Who Is Marcelo Alvarado?
Marcelo Alvarado’s journey into school photography is anything but conventional. After completing two years of computer engineering studies, he chose a life of adventure, working aboard cruise ships. His charisma and leadership skills led him to an 18-year career as an Entertainment Manager (Cruise Director) for Carnival Cruise Line, followed by 3 years with Royal Caribbean International. During this time, he directed, produced, and created immersive entertainment experiences for thousands of passengers annually.
In 2021, Marcelo transitioned from the world of entertainment to school photography, leveraging the skills he honed at sea—engagement, organization, and the ability to create unforgettable moments—to transform an industry he had never worked in before. In just six months, he led Magic Photography Chile to become the largest and most recognized school photography company in the country, capturing 20,000 students in the second half of 2022. His success continued in 2023, photographing 15,000 students in the first semester alone, with a goal to double that number by year’s end.
Marcelo’s approach sets him apart: he applies the same high-energy, customer-focused strategies that made him a leader in entertainment to the world of school photography, ensuring a seamless, enjoyable experience for students and schools alike.
